Health articles tell us over and over again about the detrimental effects of stress.

Travel Each of these has many actual actions to it, but this is a sufficient breakdown to realize that your relaxing vacation isn’t so relaxing after all.

If you have an agenda while you’re on vacation as well, to get the “Biggest bang for your buck” you are simply not relaxing at all.

What type of exercise? At home or at a gym? What other items lose out so we can squeeze it in? What if we need a shower after exercise? If we go to a gym, who’s watching the kids? Stuck in Panic Mode Everyone’s just trying to be helpful when they suggest that you “Relax” when you’re stressed out.

All the articles you read about stress, every special on TV, talks about stress as the reason behind everything.

I believe the cause of stress is operating in “Panic mode”.

Many people are using panic energy to run their life.

This is the origin of the saying “I work better under pressure.” It seems like you’re working better, because your perception of everything changes when you panic.

When you get stuck in panic mode, EVERYTHING is seen as urgent.

As a culture, we aren’t taught how to switch between panic mode and a relaxed state of mind.

It’s to the point where one of the top suggestions to relax is something so complicated and expensive that people stress out about their vacation! How many people go on vacation and come back feeling like they never left? We get stuck in panic mode because behind the panic are a bunch of chemicals our body produces that are both addicting and difficult to put the brakes on.

Just Stop It The very first step of getting out of panic mode is to simply “Stop!” Set aside your entire “To do” list and turn your phone and computer off or go into another room.

Have you been exercising? What have you been eating? Do you drink enough pure water? How much caffeine have you been having? If you smoke, how much are you smoking lately? Are you indulging in anything else, such as alcohol or otherwise in order “To relax”? How are your feet and toes doing? If you’re sitting, how does the chair feel under you? Breathe deeply from your belly.

Why Stopping Works Stopping gives us a reprieve from panic and brings us back to the present.

When you live in panic you are expending emergency reserves that are for real life-or-death emergencies.

When you live in panic you can’t dream or work on your real life purpose anymore.

We had a joke in my family many years ago: “Adrenaline is great! With adrenaline you can jump 20 feet in the air! The problem is: you’re 20 feet in the air!” When you panic you’re ready to take on a tiger – but there’s no tiger.

To translate Chi energy into Western medical terms it is the parasympathetic nervous system: the state of using our basic energy building blocks.

There’s no room for panic or worry in the use of Chi energy.

If you find yourself in panic mode, and no one is in danger of dying, then keep “Stop!” in mind so that you can relieve the stress as quickly and simply as possible.
