One question that people often ask me, especially people who have never studied martial arts or self-defense, is if there is any particular topics that my students find objectionable or disturbing.

When these people do initiate violence it is with the goal of communication in mind; meaning that their goal is not to seriously injure or kill another person but to communicate to the other person that they are unhappy, jealous, dominate, or whatever.

This is why you hear people talk about “Snapping”, saying that they just “Snapped” and the next thing they knew they had done something horrible.

People within the 98% are perfectly capable of those acts but they are so outside their normal nature they either “Snap” or they rationalize it and make the conscious decision that that is the only way to solve a problem and they do it with it weighing heavily on their conscious.

These are the people that, in confronted with a problem with someone, will just go over to them and seriously injure or kill them and then walk away like nothing ever happened.

A lot of these people become successful CEO’s due to their lack of hesitation to take risks and being “Cut throat” in the business world.

Many of these people become successful business people and many of them become criminals, and still many become both.

What is really dangerous about them is where the rest of us would increase our aggressive actions in socially acceptable steps they would just jump right to the end; where most people who be ready to raise their voice they show little to no emotion and just pick up the most lethal object in arms reach and hit you in the head with it.

Some of these people are so extreme that if they were having dinner with their family and the neighbors TV is too loud they would excuse themselves, walk over there, stab them to death, turn their TV down, and then come back and resume their meal nothing had ever happened.

To these people violence isn’t something to use as a last resort but rather something to use whenever they have a problem to solve.

The real scary thing is when you start to look at the numbers and see that, statistically, there are over 125,000 people with these asocial violent tendencies in every single state of the US. You probably run into at least 2 or 3 of these people every week.

Number Two: “Three days to animal” The people I teach are fine socialize people and they don’t like hearing about all these people with asocial violent tendencies walking around them, but they really don’t when I bring up “Three days to animal.” I always ask people if they have ever heard that phrase before and very few have.

What this means is that if you live in a town that suffered a massive natural disaster and resources became hard to come by, if people don’t have access to drinking water for three days your nice neighborhood can turn into a very violent place.

An important note is that this talks about normal socialize people, someone who is not may resort to deadly force when he or she becomes thirsty toward the end of day one.

Number One: Eye Gouges Both of the above are uncomfortable topics to talk about but nothing gets the reaction from students that an eye gouge does.

People inherently know how sensitive the eyes are and even attach a person’s identity to their eyes so the idea of touching them make people uncomfortable, and the idea of using your thumb to dig them out of the skull makes most people want to vomit.

You get the added benefit in that once you injure an eye the person becomes blind; even if you only injure one eye the other one will water in sympathy and they will not be able to see out of either one.

A lot of people today are learning fancy techniques to avoid having people rush in in a tackling manner and trying to take them down.

In high school wrestling or in the UFC you see people sprawling or just rolling onto their back but all you have to do if someone is rushing in at your hips is to put your hand on their head and get your thumb in their eye.

People get disgusted and don’t want to touch the eye or they don’t want to apply any pressure and that is understandable, but does need to be overcome.
