The Sanskrit Language splits-up our normal waking state into three separate and distinct states of mind.
In the Eighth Chapter of Aristotle’s NICOMECHAN ETHICS, he presents a chart, showing exactly how the mind works for dealing with depression as well as other emotional pain.
It’s the Sanskrit science of three separate and distinct states of mind inherent within the normal waking state of consciousness.
The mind can’t be controlled entirely by will power.
Trying to control the mind with will power is like trying to control the wind.
Trying to control the mind with will power is like trying to control diarrhea.
The same thing happens when we try to control the mind with will power.
Success in overcoming any emotional pain depends on using the mind’s own energy.
According to Aristotle, the pain and suffering of depression, comes form the mind having entered the Deficient Energy state.
So Aristotle’s solution is to bring the mind back to the Mean or Balanced Energy state.
Using will power to practice the virtue of thankfulness or gratitude, for example, reverses the currents of the mind that cause depression.
As we practice gratitude, the mind’s force causing depression become weaker.
The problems are the two opposite extremes: that is, the Deficient Energy State of mind.
The good news is, the solution is also inside the mind.
So Aristotle’s system of controlling the mind becomes the Martial Art for controlling the mind.
Not only is it the best way, but in many cases, it’s also the only way to control the mind.
Accordingly, the Mean or Balanced Energy State of Mind holds the key to true happiness.
So the Mean or Balanced Energy state of Mind is the answer.
We automatically move into the Balanced Energy sate of mind by practicing virtue.
Once the currents of the mind are reversed, the mind flows naturally an normally into the Middle Path.
