Grappling is a hybrid sport that combines different styles, some modern and some more traditional, of wrestling and martial arts. This fighting method is based on grappling, strangulation, and dislocation techniques of the adversary’s extremities. Used in various martial arts (judo, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, etc.), it is also used very frequently in submission sports, where combat can be terminated without the need for blows. Joint locking is a grappling technique that involves manipulating an opponent’s joints in such a way that the joints reach their full range Joint locks generally involve isolating a particular joint, using leverage in an attempt to force the joint to move beyond its normal range of motion. Joint blocks cause varying degrees of joint pain and, if applied forcefully and/or suddenly, can cause injury, including damage to muscles, tendons, and ligaments, and even bone dislocation or fracture.
